JUNE CAMPOUT REPORT

On one of the hottest days of June, Troop 44 took to the Waters of Store Creek during a boating campout on Edisto Island. An active day on the water, behind ski boats provided by Mr. Snow, Mr. Wooten and Mr. Fairey, had the Scouts of Troop 44 ready for a good nights rest on Saturday. Sunday morning found the Scouts enjoying a hardy breakfast at Trinity Episcopal Church, then attending morning services at the historic wooden church which has served Edisto Island for centuries. A special thank you to Mrs. Jere Eggleston of Columbia, SC for allowing the Troop to use her property as a campsite.

TROOP 44 Eagle Ceremony

Troop 44 recognised Robert Fairey on Sunday June 9th with an Eagle Ceremony at the James Island Presbyterian Church at 1632 Fort Johnson Road. The Panther Patrol did an outstanding job conducting the ceremony. The Eagle Guard of Honor consisted of father and son Eagles from Troop 44, Lloyd and Frampton Ash. Dr. Michael Castronis, pastor of the James Island Presbyterian Church, was a special guest, offering the invocation and benediction. A wonderful reception, with a lot of great food and fellowship followed the ceremony .

Court of Honor/ Induction Ceremony

The Panther patrol conducted Troop 44's Summer Court of Honor on June 17th. The Court of Honor included the induction of the Tiger Patrol into the Troop by the Assistant Scoutmaster, Mr. Rice and Aaron Hepner, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. After the presentation of rank awards and merit badges by members of the Panther Patrol, Mr. Don Poole closed the Court of Honor with a special reading of the Cremation of Sam McGee.
